LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO

South Africa

october 5, 2018 19:30-20:45
Nagyhall, Akvárium Klub

Ladysmith Black Mambazo have been singing the message of peace, love and harmony for over half a century across the globe. Their authentic a cappella style,  isicathamiya, originally evolved as a way of alleviating the pain and hardship of black miners in South Africa, to emerge as a genre bringing joy to audiences around the world. Nelson Mandela first called them the cultural ambassadors of their country, a title they have earned and keep on fulfilling to this day. Their newest album, Shaka Zulu Revisited won the fifth Grammy award for the band, testifying to their amazing power to renew. They sang at Nelson Mandela’s Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony, at the festive concert celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday, and this year the audience of Budapest Ritmo may hear their wonderful voices.
