Nobody expects ‘Peasants in the Atmosphere’, as the brand new Hungarian concept band call themselves. Their choice of name is not the last surprise you’ll get though, as this bunch of young musicians aim to shock and pay tribute to folk heritage at the same time. Sure enough, they know what they are talking about: several members are actice in contemporary dance house or folk groups, while others add avantgarde aesthetic. Their mission is to provide a critical take on folk culture, revitalize its potential for rebellion and address current issues through it. While acknowledging the disintegration of traditional culture, they reach back to its vitality and closeness to nature, an aspect all the more relevant as civilization is headed towards ecological disaster.
