They represent the renowned griot dynasties dating as far back as the 13th century, the great Mande Empire in Mali. Griots have been serving communities commissioned by nobles since then, similarly Trio Da Kali is still on the wedding circuit in Bamako when they are not enchanting audiences of the world’s renowned stages. The group was called together by producer Lucy Dorán to create Ladilikan – an album with Kronos Quartet, their most beautiful so far by their own account.
