Christoph Borkowsky

Christoph Borkowsky grew up in the wolf-years after WWII in Carnival-land in the very west of Germany. He moved to Berlin in 1967 to study anthropology and to join the 68-movement in good timing for the unleashed decade which followed.

Today he is President of Piranha Arts, which started as an independent record label in 1987 and is now also the mothership of WOMEX – The World Music Expo, Classical:NEXT – the global meeting for all art music innovators and the Karneval der Kulturen, a key event in the cultural calendar of Berlin – four days full of music, dance and enjoyment, attracting over a million visitors a year.

„Our mission is to celebrate cultural diversity, our driving force to create value by crossing borders – be they cultural, political or commercial. One doesn‘t work without the other.”
