Roksana Rudeviča received a professional master’s degree in private law and lawyer qualification in 2016 in Baltic International Academy. From 2011, she is Chairman of the Board of NGO “ROMA CULTURE CENTRE”. Roksanas work focuses on informing the public with the Roma art heritage, Roma culture and traditions, including the Roma genocide, promoting the consolidation of Roma youth and their civic participation in the development of society.
She is active in the study of Roma history and culture, as well as in the social memory of Roma in Latvia, organizes various cultural events, deals with education, employment and social issues, and actively participates in Roma Consultative Council of Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, deals with various types of integration issues.
From 2015 she’s organizing and is the director of International Romani Culture festival “ROMA WORLD”, and for 4 years in a row, Latvia has hosted some of the best Roma musicians in the world. This event provided an opportunity to address and inform the general public about the Roma cultural heritage and to express the creativity of this heritage, thus changing the public’s prejudiced attitude towards the Roma in general and breaking the established stereotypes through artistic and cultural prism.
