Fatoumata Diawara // Free Opening Concert 

Ceaselessly treading her own path, a path that led her to international stardom, Fatoumata Diawara is one of the biggest names to emerge from the country considered the cradle of pop, Mali. She handles her heritage with elegance while opening new vistas, boldly blending Afrobeat, jazz, electronica and Mali blues. Her drive and musical wizardry have granted a Grammy-nomination and platform for advocacy: she stands up for Mali’s cultural legacy, the rights of women and children. Her latest album, London Ko, co-produced with Damon Albarn, is another bold step to the future, pushing Afrofuturism forward while staying rooted in Malian traditions.
