Julia Kozakova is world music and jazz singer from Slovakia best known for her solo work and her previous album Manuša (2022) saw her bring new life into traditional Roma songs originally from Slovakia and Central Europe. Julia’s band are a group of exceptional Roma musicians from her home town of Bratislava - Slovakia. Her breakout and internationally released debut brought Julia an new audiences touring in the UK, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Slovakia and also at WOMEX 2023 in Spain. The album received a very positive media feedback - it was the best performing world music album from Slovakia according to the World Music Charts Europe (WMCE) and has received Radio Head Award for the ‘best Slovak world music album’ of 2022. Julia is also the lead singer in bands Sole and O Gadže Bašaven. After studies at London’s SOAS University she continues studying jazz voice degree in Brno (Czech republic).
