Sounds and Stories from Ruhnu Island performance today presents real life stories of the island's people and peoples history to accompany the musical journey into a lost heritage of Ruhnu island. In 2019 they released a CD with the island's instrumental music and chorals called “The Many Points of Ruhnu”.
Up until WW2 a small island in the Baltic Sea called Ruhnu, was inhabited by around 300 people. They shared a very interesting symbiosis of Estonian Swedish culture: rich in heritage, traditions and music. But when the Soviet army took over the country and almost all of the islanders fled to Sweden to find refugee, most of these stories and traditions started to slowly fade away.
