10-12 April 2025, Budapest | House of Music Hungary | Akvárium Klub
As a springboard for further discussion, Grammy-awarded producer and author Ian Brennan (Tinariwen, Zomba Prison Project, Ustad Saami), in conversation with Glitterbeat founder Chris Eckman, talks about fair representation in music. They spell out how linguistic, and regional and economic diversity is often stifled by corporate monopolization and entrenched industry gatekeeping. Means of resisting homogenization, fostering new ecosystems of sound will be drawn up, inviting Ritmo delegates to join – or keep on building – positive change. Ian points to the potential of the world music scene to break away from exploitative systems, amplify underrepresented voices, and ensure a more democratic future for music.
