Yalda Yazdani is an Iranian ethnomusicologist, filmmaker, and curator. She is currently based in Berlin. In March 2025, she earned her doctoral degree (PhD) in Musicology from the University of Siegen, Germany. From 2017 to 2023, she founded and curated the music festivals, Female Voice of Iran, Female Voice of Afghanistan, and Female Voice of Kurdistan festivals in collaboration with Contemporary Opera Berlin. In 2024, she curated the Qashqai Female Voices event series in collaboration with the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum in Cologne and in 2024, Ukrainian Female Voices, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Institute in Kyiv and Berlin, in partnership with transmusikale e.V. Since 2023, she has been the artistic director of the Inner Unity Ensemble, and in 2025 directed the music project Female Voices United, both in collaboration with the Duisburg Philharmonie. Her primary work centers on highlighting the female voices internationally, especially those from West Asia and North Africa.
