Budapest Ritmo

Budapest Ritmo is one of the biggest world music events in Central Eastern Europe organised by Hangvető, connecting music lovers, artists and world music industry professionals. For our 10th anniversary, daytime showcases also receive extra attention, and extended schedule. Showcase

The daytime showcase is the flagship event of Budapest Ritmo, featuring bands or artists from the region, selected by an international jury Martyna van Nieuwland, Emir Fulurija, Balázs Weyer and Márton Sütheő. We’re gearing up for the 10th edition of Budapest Ritmo, and as a proud member of the UPBEAT network, we’re more excited than ever to present new and emerging world music artists. The anniversary edition of Ritmo features 2-days of conference, daytime showcases and networking events with plenty of opportunities to connect and collaborate. The daytime showcase becomes – for the first time in 10 years – part of the conference programme, so the showcasing artists get to perform in front of an engaged crowd of music professionals, in the professional surrounding of House of Music Hungary. Our goal is to hatch new friendships and collabs, and grow the Ritmo bubble: an ever growing pool of likeminded music professionals.

How to apply?

Budapest Ritmo is a proud member of UPBEAT, the European Showcase Platform for World Music. Applications can only be submitted through the UPBEAT partner booking platform, gigmit, until midnight on December 22. 

Who can apply?

• Regional bands (V4 countries, Western-Balkan countries, Eastern Partnership countries, Baltics, Hungary’s neighboring countries)
• Artists from the world music scene (Make sure ‘world music’ is indicated among your genres on your gigmit profile, otherwise you won’t be able to apply)
• Ritmo welcomes artists who are ready to step on the international stage

What the Budapest Ritmo Showcase has to offer:

• Budapest Ritmo PRO Pass with access to all shows & conference panels, networking events
• Exposure and feedback from a pool of selected professionals and experts,
• Booking opportunities,
• Networking: both the Budapest Ritmo Conference, our Speed Dating event, and the Networking event connected to the showcase concerts give plenty of space for meaningful connections,
• Introduction to the Budapest world music audience,
• Media exposure through the Budapest Ritmo communication campaign,
• Board and accommodation for foreign artists,
• Contribution for travel costs for non-Hungary based bands (150€ / person.)

Before you apply, make sure:

• You are available between the 10–12 April, 2025 on the Festival days.
• You are available to attend Speed meetings and other networking events on 11–12 April
• You have enough material ready to perform a showcase concert (roughly 40 minutes).

Keep in mind that the Festival provides no fee for the selected bands.
