Noura Mint Seymali has honoured Budapest stages several times in the past few years, most recently last summer at Sziget. Her distinct mix of traditional ardine and electronic arrangements, her powerful voice and inspired interpretation of Mauritanian heritage make her one of the stars of world music. Jeiche Ould Chighaly, Seymali’s husband and musical partner adds his touch on the guitar and tidinite, the two still perform at weddings back home despite their fame. Noura Mint Seymali’s newest album comes out in September, her memorable Glastenbury opening with the Orchestra of Syrian musicians created quite a stir: two more reasons to succumb to Seymali’s trademark psychedelic desert blues at Budapest RITMO.
